## What Agentic Web Development is
### Definition: web-first for humans + machine-first for agents
Agentic Web Development is the practice of building websites that are simultaneously web-first for humans (accessible, fast, visually clear) and machine-first for AI agents (semantically rigorous, structured, explicitly declared). It is not a redesign trend. It is an architectural posture: every page emits two parallel layers — a human layer (HTML/CSS/JS) and an agent layer (Schema.org, `llms.txt`, semantic HTML, clean metadata) — and both are first-class.
The shorthand: build the site twice in the same codebase. Once for the eye, once for the model.
### The 4 principles of agentic-first
1. **Explicit over implicit.** Never assume the agent will infer. Declare entity types, relationships, and intent with Schema.org and meta tags.
2. **Static or server-rendered by default.** Agents don't execute JavaScript reliably. Content must be present in the initial HTML response.
3. **Structured language.** Short paragraphs, direct definitions, tables, bullet lists. No clever prose. LLMs extract facts best when facts are formatted as facts.
